Baker Perkins is combining sales and service functions for its extrusion business to ensure customers benefit from a single point of contact for a wide range of services. There is a close supplier/customer relationship in the industry covering new equipment, replacement parts, barrel replacements, process optimisation, plus upgrades and rebuilds for installed machinery.

 

Kevin Wright, director of customer services, has assumed responsibility for all extrusion sales, capital and aftermarket. Randy Kincer, product manager in the USA, and UK-based sales manager Barry Dean, covering the rest of the world, continue to focus on extrusion.

 

Baker Perkins has been at the forefront of twin-screw extrusion technology since pioneering its introduction over 30 years ago, and has an installed base of over 1,000 extruders world-wide. People from companies in the UK, USA, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific were recent visitors to the company’s Peterborough base for an International Showcase to see newly-built extruders for powder coating being demonstrated, and manufacturing facilities for crucial components such as screw parts.

 

These twin-screw machines all feature clamshell barrels and have power trains specifically designed for mixing and compounding of thermosetting material, particularly powder coating, toner and EMC. They are available for outputs from laboratory scale to over four tonnes per hour. Other applications include granulation for pharmaceuticals.
