NEW Barrel Super Cooling Section

Baker Perkins’ new super cooling barrel section for the SBX Master™ extruder provides up to five times better thermal conductivity than existing extruders for processes with a need for high heat removal rates, such as those that incorporate pellet forming.

The ability to provide rapid cooling results in the best quality available for pellets, which are an important intermediate stage in the manufacture of extruded flakes. The pellets are denser, with a more even texture, and minimal expansion at the die, resulting in a more consistent flake.

This technology allows products to be formed using a face cutter, rather than requiring a separate stretching table. This enables the same SBX Master™ extruder to be used for both direct expanded products and as part of the pellet forming process.
